Types of Programs

Certificate IV

Eight pre-university level units studied over a period of two to three trimesters. Certificate IV units are taught in CIC classrooms. For most courses, progression to Diploma requires a final average of 50%. However, some courses require a higher final average to progress to Diploma.

University Preparation Program (UPP)

Four pre-university level units studied over a period of one trimester. UPP units are taught in CIC classrooms. Progression to Diploma requires a specified final average result.

Diploma

Eight or nine university level units studied over a period of two to three trimesters OR two semesters (depending on your area of study). The full-time load in each trimester or semester in a Diploma is 100 credits. The Diploma has the same course content and structure as Year 1 of the respective Curtin undergraduate degree. Depending on the area of study, Diploma units are taught in either CIC classrooms or in shared classes with Curtin students. Progression to Year 2 at Curtin for most courses requires a 50% average in all units included in the Diploma course.

Some Diploma courses may also have additional progression requirements to enter undergraduate degree programs.
